I know the recent news coming out of Iraq makes this a moo point, but just in case anyone is interested;

Geneva Convention relative to the Treatment of Prisoners of War

Nothing about television, but this link, via Vinny, explains, more or less, what we are accusing them of. Which I find curious. When you read all the provisions that are suppose to be afforded POW's, on both sides, there are a whole host of them that are being violated. Our POW's in Iraq are not getting MOST of the provisions.

I guess I was just curious as to why we were carrying on about our POW's being televised, when we've done the same, even though not nearly to the same degree. A rule of war is a rule of war, and if you're going to accuse then at least make sure you're hands are spotless.

I also wanted to know, how a document created in 1949, had provisions covering televised POW's. It doesn't. Not specifically. This puzzled me as to why the Whitehouse would get hung up on that one thing, when rules were clearly being violated in other areas concerning the POW's.

I'm still puzzled.
