I've been reading the Geneva Convention. Let me rephrase that. I've been TRYING to read the Geneva Convention. And might I suggest no one try this late at night. I don't know how many lawyers had a part in drafting it, but it certainly reads like a contract, fraught with so much lawyer lingo that I would imagine you'd have to have your Bar card to understand it all.
But if both sides are going to start pointing the finger, I would like to know what the rules really are. I'm still reading.
From what I've read so far, Amnesty International is going to have a hard time proving that blowing up a TV station is a war crime. I've only scratched the surface of this document, maybe I haven't gotten to that part yet.
From what I've read so far, we're going to have a hard time proving that the showing a POW's face on TV by a reputable new agency is a war crime. I'm talking about live POW's, as this has been Washington's whine for the past couple days.
Why isn't it a war crime when we show pictures and video of dead civilians and soldiers?
Why does Washington WHINE SO MUCH about the fact that Iraqi soldiers are breaking the GC? Why are we acting so suprised, and outraged, indignant? I find this to be a bit of manipulation by the Bush admin...
Saddam has been committing war crimes for decades. He committed them in '91. He's committed them since.
Might I suggest the current admin. stopped pretending to be so shocked and awed that he's doing it again. I find this very insulting. We know Saddam is bad. NOW STOP WHINING!
