Military Tax Break Bill Remains Stalled

In addition to capital gains tax breaks, the bill makes tax-free the $6,000 funeral benefit paid to families of soldiers killed in action. It also would allow reservists to recoup some travel expenses.


This whole story irks me to no end because it shows just how little Washington really gives a damn about our soldiers. But this one particular sentence jumped out at me. We give the families of our soldiers killed in action $6,000. Saddam gives the families of the suicide bombers who blow themselves up, something in the neighborhood of $25,000. Now. What's wrong with that picture? Looks to me as though Saddam takes care of his own better than we do. But then, we have a long-standing record or screwing over our soldiers.

We ought to be ashamed...
