Can Rumsfeld be serious???
US Secretary of State Donald Rumsfeld has denied Iraq was falling into chaos, describing the scenes of looting as "untidy".
"Free people are free to make mistakes and commit crimes and do bad things," he told reporters.
"I don't think there is anyone in those pictures or any human being who does not prefer to be free and recognise that you have passed through a transition period like this and accept it as part of the price of getting from a repressed regime to freedom."
Untidy??? That's like saying the fall of the Twin Towers was "untidy". Is this man seeing the same pictures and hearing the same stories as the rest of the world? We lose the towers and it's used as an excuse to start a war. We bomb an entire country and call it "untidy".
He's beginning to sound like the Information Minister, only without the panache and verve. The media could have done the exact same thing to Rumsfeld as they did to the Info Min. They could have shown the pictures of what was actually going on in Baghdad in a small screen while Rumsfeld was speaking, to show how ridiculous what he was saying actually was.
People are being beaten to death and lynched in the streets. To Rumsfeld, this is untidy.
How does one reason with such heedless, desensitized thinking? And someone PLEASE tell me how he is any different than the Mohammed The Info Dude?
