Men are more than twice as likely as women to die during a thunderstorm, possibly because they are more likely to engage in outdoor sports or work-related activities that put them at risk, according to research presented
Monday.
About 70 percent of the 1,442 people killed during a thunderstorm between 1994 and 2000 were male, according to Dr. Thomas Songer.
Songer said he hopes to find out if men and women make different decisions when faced with potentially dangerous situations by studying their responses to hypothetical scenarios
